Thank you for your interest in St John Fisher Primary School.
The school is voluntarily aided, in the Archdiocese of Southwark, enjoying close links with St John Fisher Church. The school operates as a primary school, from Nursery to Year 6.
St John Fisher Primary School was built to serve the Catholic Local Community. We welcome families and staff from the Catholic faith, as well as from many other faith backgrounds, and those of no faith. Our community serves to add richness and diversity for each and every individual.

Application and Admission Process
Nursery Applications
The SJF Supplementary Information form (see forms at the bottom of this page) needs to be completed and returned to St John Fisher School by 27/02/2026.
Reception Applications
Applications can be completed online at www.merton.gov.uk/admissions . In cases where parents are unable to complete an online application, forms for reception places are available from the school office. The allocation of reception places is the responsibility of the local authority. Places are allocated using the criteria outlined below in the admissions policy. In addition to the common application form supplied by the LA, the Supplementary Information and for Catholic applicants, the Certificate of Practice form (see forms at the bottom of this page) , must be completed and sent to the school no later than the closing date set by the LA. A place in the nursery does not necessarily guarantee a place in reception and a separate application form for reception needs to be completed even if your child has a place in our nursery.
Supplementary forms must be returned to school by 15th Jan 2026 (along with the signed Certificate of Practice form for Catholic applicants, obtained from your Parish priest). A new supplementary form must be completed for reception as the nursery form will not be accepted.
The closing date for online applications to Merton Council 15th Jan 2026. Please make sure these are on time as it will impact your application.
All information is on Merton Council School admissions website.

'In-Year' Transfers / Applications
If you would like your child to join St John Fisher at a time other than at the start of reception, you should contact the school office for an application form. If the relevant year group for your child is full (i.e. all 60 places are taken) then he/she will be placed on our waiting list. If there are spaces in the relevant year group, you will have the benefit of an initial meeting with our Admissions Officer and one of the leadership team. This serves to ensure that we have all the necessary information to make your child's start at St John Fisher as smooth and positive as possible. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and tour the school if you haven't already done so. These applications will be dealt with by 31st August at the latest each year.

Transfer to Secondary School
We are extremely lucky to have a selection of secondary schools across Merton. We offer a 'Transition to High School' meeting, which takes place each year, following the Yr 5 and Yr 6 'Meet The Teacher' meetings in September. If you were unable to attend this meeting, please see the link below, of the slides from the meeting.
